In part of UCF’s 2022 annual Celebrates the Arts festival, I had the pleasure of designing TheatreUCF’s production of Shrek, The Musical in the Walt Disney Theatre within the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. This production had an exciting amount of immersive sound and video elements (designed by Tim Brown) that resulted in heavy soundscaping and environmental punctuation. 17 musicians and a cast of 40 made this quite a large production, and required a nuanced care of microphone placement and mix decisions to make for an experience as large as our green protagonist.
